a hobby of mine that i started up about 19 months ago is weapons sparring. we spar with everything from kamas to custom weapons. it sounds dangerous but it is more fun than it is deadly.

This is a great hobby. When I was studying Goju we'd spar with weapons every few days or so. My sensei was great, he was of the opinion that you never learned to fight unless you went full force with a myriad of opponents. Wish I still had the time to study. Kamas were my favorite to spar with, almost having bought my own. My second favorite was chain fighting, but we weren't allowed to spar with those. Even a small lack of control with the chain can cause some serious problems.

yeah, and it is because of that fact that i dont like chain weapons. i actually have never studied weapons forms, i am self tought. i stick mostly to staff weapons and bokken

We had staffs and Kamas and what not in my Goju dojo... it was a lot of fun to spar with the weapons. But what I really want to get into is kendo or sabre fencing. I love Katanas.

Ah yes, I knew a girl once, named Katana. Lovely, exciting.... wait I digress. Hell yes. Sparing with hand to hand combat weapons is exciting until you hurt yourself bad. /me spits in the corner. Now I play video games.

i also play video games. and as far as getting hurt, i am the only one that has gotten hurt. but i only got hurt, bucause i injured my shoulder about three years ago, and it has a tendency to dislocate every now and again.

Yak is insanely good. He is the bokken master of our backyard sparring group lol.
